I've seen some airport shops. If you are already flying somewhere and will get passed security, it will be possible to do those. But it's been a while since I've seen any.
It means that it hasn't been paid yet. If you check after the date that you are supposed to be paid, it should be changed to "paid". If your shop was not accepted, you should receive a message from your scheduler informing you that your shop was denied.
There are some shops available that require pre-approval. How can I get pre-approved? I e-mailed the MSP about this but haven't received any reply.

I noticed this too. i am no longer automatically assigned shops that I was assigned in the past. I get a confirmation of request instead.
I would also like to know if anyone has any insight on this.

I asked a scheduler about this. For some shops where there are several assignments, manual assignment is done to avoid having more than one mystery shopper at a time. Apparently, the system does not take that into to account.
If your request is accepted, you should get an e-mail informing you that you've been assigned the shop.
If it was not accepted, your 'requests' section will no longer have the requested shop in question.
