Hello, I'm new to Secret Shopping and have completed about 4 projects to date and hope to do many more. I need some advice from seasoned shoppers; I'm hesitant to sign up for some of the shops because more often than not, the summary/description of the expectations for the assignment are not very detailed. I had an experience where I registered for a shop based on the summarized details for the assignment, but once I was assigned the shop and was provided with more detailed description, I found that the assignment was a little bit more involved than I hoped for; I cancelled my request and consequently I lost some points, which I totally understand, but I just wish I had more details on the shopping expectations before I register; it appears to me that the only way to get more detailed expectations is to request the shop. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Hi Jeanette,

I have come across the same thing, my points seem to fluctuate a lot. I also get denied a lot, I can’t help but feel like I am missing some important information that could use to be very helpful. I never email to ask why I was declined but maybe I should?!? I just moved up my rank yesterday and then I was denied 2/3 shops and now my rank went back down

Hello. I just signed up last night. I have my first shop tomorrow. Do you get paid for doing things like taking photos or do you always have to purchase something and get reimbursed? Thanks!

usually you do not have to purchase something, but it might depend on the client you work for

I personally think cancelling a request( not an actual sign-up) shouldn’t lead to losing points because then someone else has the chance to get the shop.

Read the questionnaire to know what you’re looking for.
