I recently did a college assignment where I was show interest in a perspective program and record the in person tour. Well I've done this before at another campus with no problems. This time was different. The administrator asked me halfway through if I was recording him and laughed. Of course I said no and didn't blow my cover but is this right?

I am I legally allowed to lie about recording another person since it's a public facility? I'm genuinely curious.

I'm also curious if its going to be accepted since it's still in review.

The part that makes me laugh is when you get notified that they knew who the mystery shopper is. If that is the case, why didn't you get perfect? Some stores review the video after the report is completed, so easy to tell at that point.
