Just wondering if anyone has done a shop at a casino yet and if so how many areas do you have to visit?

Many... Every MSC and client have different guidelines.

I recently did a casino shop. I was required to visit a restaurant, visit a lounge with entertainment, slot area and rest room check. I was reimbursed for food items, 2 cocktails, club/lounge entrance fees and $100 in gambling money. There was a lot of timing and employee details that needed to be remembered. I actually sent myself text messages with notes on employee interactions etc. all night which kept the timing issues for me and it made filling out the report much easier. I hope this helps.

Hi there! I have completed 14 casino shops and have 4 more scheduled for January! Purchase a meal at the restaurant, a drink at the bar, a drink while playing the slot machines, and if applicable, another drink at the table games. This plus $200 gambling and review cleanliness and customer service of various areas.

I did the same as Michelle - texted the employee names with their location so it was easier to answer the questions, as it just appeared that I was texting someone.

How do you text the information to yourself?

I use speech-to-text and save it in the app: ColorNote

I have done many, many casino shops over the last several years, mostly in large resorts with hotels. The number of interactions depends on whether or not it is a shift visit, an overnight stay, or a 2-night stay, or more. A shift visit might have10-15 interactions. An overnight stay would have from 25-40 interactions. A 2-night stay would have about 60 interactions. Some interactions take less than a minute (Security Person), some 20-30 minutes (table games), and others (fine dining) could take over an hour.

I want to do a casino shop! I have seen them offered to me...I'm scared to dive into one, do it wrong, and not get paid for all of the food, drinks, and the money they give you to gamble!

Anyone have any reassurances for me?

Is it that daunting? I have been ms for three years and done a variety of shops. This casino shop is one I want to do, but am afraid. Has anyone done the shop and not been paid?

How familiar are you with casinos?

If you are not that familiar, you'll want to start with a smaller one so that you can acclimate yourself with the atmosphere. Or, you can simply visit one on your own time and learn the lay of the land....

If you know casinos reasonably well (including how to play a couple of the table games), it's not a big deal. You'll have lots to remember if you have multiple areas to visit, but you can always "go to the bathroom" between areas and take some notes on your phone.

I only take casinos if I can keep the winnings. Otherwise, the work/pay ratio is typically pretty unexciting.
