So recently I shopped a restaurant, where I took a friend with as per requirement. As a hotel GM I have an eye for the things an owner would want to hear. I did a thorough shop, with pictures etc. Spent close to a $100 for $80 to be reimbursed. My notes were detailed and on point. The only thing I missed was, not ask the name of the manager on duty who wasn't present. Based on this one thing, my entire shop was denied. I was sent an email saying "Your shop for ------- has been declined because: I'm sorry, but you were required to get the name of the manager. If you have questions please contact:" i reached out via email and never heard back. I took more than hour to write a report on this shop and this is what i was given in return. Extremely disappointed.
I would be very disappointed as well. Which mystery shop company was this? I can understand dinging someone but throwing it out? No chance to follow up in case you simply forgot to include it?
I guess in retrospect you could have had your friend ask.
