i have a mystery shop at a restaurant and one of the components is to do a phone call and ask the restaurant a few questions. They ask me to get the persons name as well- how do you do this without being suspected of being a mystery shopper??

Just say, "I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name" or "Can I ask for you when I come in?"

This has worked for me.

That sounds like a good way to do it.

"You look familiar, what's your name again?" has worked for me!

I typically do it when I'm thanking someone like: Thank you so much! I'm sorry, what was your name again? Thank you (Their name)!
