Audio Shop Tips

I've noticed some apartment shops requiring audio recordings while onsite. I tried recording with my phone in a pocket or purse, but got a lot of fabric rustling noise. Any tips for getting a clean recording?

I use my smart watch and also my phone with the speaker facing up in an outside pocket of the purse.

I just walk in holding my phone in my hand with my recording on. On an iPhone, you can turn your screen off and it will still record under the "Voice Memos" app. I honestly record any shop I do (even if it is not an audio required shop) if and when I am interacting with someone so It will be easier for me to recant what occurred when completing my report.

Best of luck!

I have a small clipboard I put my iPhone on just face down latched to the part that would hold the paper and "take notes" as we're discussing certain things like prices or new discounts for quick move-in dates like I'm going to relay that information later. It keeps the phone in plain sight and I can put it closer to the other person without it being observed as a recording device. When you're walking, just keep the phone around chest level and keep the clipboard or your purse or whatever on the same side as the other person is. Pockets make the recording difficult and a guy walking in with a purse would seem a bit odd, but something to take notes on is 100% accepted in every scenario I've been in so far. To save paper, I'll usually even use the same paper and just different quarters of it throughout the different shops.
