Completing a pizza shop and the example photos they want make me laugh! They don't have to take photos with customers and employees in the photo. It is very obvious you are the shopper as you are taking photos of all pizza slices. :-)

People post their food on instagram and all social media so I don’t think anyone thinks anything when you’re taking pictures of food! Everyone does it!

Yeah I came to say the same thing: everybody posts everything on Instagram or Yelp or Google Maps or whatever these days; taking pictures of your food is no longer anything suspicious or noteworthy.

Have any of you ever done a menu audit? How do you capture pictures of signs without being too obvious?

I had an assignment to take pictures of all food item menus and promotional signage in a gas station convenience store. Unfortunately all the signs were near the front of the store, and the cashier became hostile when she saw me taking pictures.

She told me I had no right to take these kinds of pictures without permission from corporate, and implied that I could even be 'casing' the store for a future robbery.

It was a very uncomfortable situation.

Could you say; wow, this pizza looks great. My Uncle Charlie thinks he has the best pizza, can I take a photo of this to rib Uncle Charlie?

Using a phone to take photos is probably your best bet. You can make it look you’re texting or on the phone with someone.

I recently did two different types of jobs/two companies that required food pics.

One was a fast food chicken job. My dad was with me. I went in and told them I needed to take a pic to go out and show my dad so he could decide what he wanted to eat.

You could adjust it the same way, without an extra person, by saying you're sending it to someone so they can decide what they want. Fill out your form on your phone, while "waiting" for their response. After a few moments, order your food. Easy Peasy!

I also did a carry out pizza job. I was able to do the pics in the back end of my vehicle. I parked a couple of spots away from the door. Most workers couldn't care less about what you're doing.
