From what I've seen, if there's a flat rate listed, you'll be paying for it out of what you make for the assignment. If there's a reimbursement listed for something like a hotel or restaurant, as well as a shopper fee, then you will be paid on top of what you spend for the assignment.
In the app, if you go under "Assigned Shops" and toggle to "Submitted" you should be able to see your shop. Next to it, there should be a yellow and blue button that says, "Un-Finalize." If you click that you should be able to go back into the shop, make your edits, and re-submit it.
Oh, that's frustrating. At least the MSP is aware of the problem and working with you.

The contracts are just independent contractor agreements that you need to sign for the MSP in order to accept a job from them. Prior to be being assigned a shop, you will be able to see an overview of what it entails. However, you will not be able to see the full, detailed instructions until it is assigned to you. Every shop is different, but you will generally be making a set of specific observations and writing up a report/filling out a survey regarding the details of interest.
There are some automotive shops that involve test driving vehicles. I have never completed one of those, though and can't speak to it.
