Airport Badge

I found discussion on getting badged but nothing specific. There seems to be a company that will get you an airport badge but the company was not named.

For those of you who work with the invitation only company who has airport shops, what say you?

I am not too worried about being badged, been down that road before. They pay for it and provide decent pay for the time it takes to go through the process.

OK, I know which company you mean now. They were very nice. Reasonable  fees. You really need to know the airport. There's no time for mistakes. You have to go shop to shop in a logical order or you can't finish in the time frame. Filling out their reports is easy. I have never had one come back to me.

Winery Shops

I've done quite a few of these over the years. If the instructions don't say anything about it, I say I am looking for a bottle for someone else. I'm not a wine expert so that opens the door for them to ask a lot of questions about who I am buying it for. Don't get so involved in the tasting that you forget to look for the wine tasting fees, wine prices, spittoon, etc. It's really easy to get caught up in the tasting and conversation. And I usually try to use the rest room as soon as I go in as it is easy to forget. Good luck and enjoy!

Also check their hours. They each have their own individual days open and hours of operation.

MSPA conventions

I went to both the conferences last year, one put on by the MSPA and one put on by the IMSC. Both were about equally attended and both were great for networking with the companies. Both have a good set of training sessions and both have advantages as a member. Each sets aside time for shoppers to meet and talk with the company owners, schedulers and editors. I found the video training better at the IMSC conference but had more time for networking at Shopperfest. Each has their benefits and each involves different companies. I have companies that I deal with at both, as a shopper and a scheduler. Some of the companies are members of both associations. My advice is to check the list of companies that belong to both organizations and determine which has more of the companies you want to talk to.

Not getting any available assignments

Try changing the radius range over the map and search again. The default is only 25 miles. There are not a lot of shops anywhere in Canada right now as we are generally limited to one company (as far as I know), on this platform and most of them have been taken for May. However, I took a look and there are some within a reasonable distance of where you are. Also try looking the last week and the first week of the month. They are usually released the last week and some into the first week.

Email Overload

Hi Tanisha

I feel your pain. I do a lot of shops so I can't really turn my notifications off. However, I haven't come across a company where there isn't a control on emails somewhere. Usually in your profile, there will be an option to receive emails or not. Some platforms, like ISS offer a choice of what you want to receive such as notifications of available shops and notifications of declined shops, etc. If all else fails, if you only want to go on the website, turn the radius down on how far you are willing to travel to say 5 miles in your profile and you should only get notifications for that area. It is a compromise though - you will have to change the radius when you go in to look for jobs but at least you won't get all those emails!

Referrals?

Hi Jacqueline

It's located on the home page, near the top, just above where it will say Welcome Jacqueline. The ribbon also has the following icons beside it: ISS Prep, Ticket System and Secret Shop Forum.

Referrals?

I couldn't figure out how to get a good copy in here but you should see this on your home page of ISS - your assigned shops, web and phone shops, etc. Look above this to find Refer Friends, ISS Prep, Ticket System and Secret Shop Forum and Logout.

hello there from Pittsburgh :)

Most of the shops come out towards the end of the month and the first few days of the next month. Keep an eye on the board. They can go quickly.
