My 2nd Shop Was a Sex Shop - Literally!!!

LOL - I had to look up your city just to see the shops you were talking about and found a bunch of shops at Kum & Go. I had no idea this was a convenience store in your area.

Hello from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada (i know, it's hard to say)

Welcome Kim! I wonder if Corner Gas is mystery shopped. LOL

For my American friends, this was a Canadian comedy series based in rural Saskatchewan.

Yep - I'm right next to boarder so cross into Detroit area all the time to buy your cheap milk (99 cents at Kroger) and eggs (49 cents a dozen) and fill up on gas. :-) The shop that surprises me the most in the USA is hospital mystery shops. Hospitals are govt run in Canada and are not mystery shopped but I think they could use them.

How I wished I lived closer to this shop

I checked the site when I was on vacation for Denver, CO and there is a famous location listed! My acting skills are not that great to play a straight guy at a gentleman's club. :-)

Unfortunately, we can't do shops in Nevada unless you have a licence. :-( I'm dying to the some casino shops there.

The state of Nevada regulates all mystery shopping activity. The state of Nevada is the only state that requires a work card to mystery shop. It is regulated by the Nevada PILB. ... You do not need a PI license yourself, but you must get a Nevada work card and become an employee of one or more of the licensed companies.

PRO tips, for those who want to be the best shoppers!

I got my silver MSPA certification back in 2002. I am feeling my age now! It did help get me some of my first mystery shops back then. I still include it when starting to work for a new company.

Hi from London Ontario

Welcome Remarker! I used to live in London but now live in Sarnia. I have been a shopper for over 20+ years. London unfortunately has a surplus of shoppers so take any shops while you can. I find smaller cities like Sarnia and in your area St Thomas etc are where you can find shops. Also, sometimes take road trips that included a bunch of shops on the way.

What is a "Bar Loss Evaluation"

I have done some of these. You sit at the bar and order a drink and food. You usually have to pay with cash. The whole purpose of the shop is to watch the bartender to make sure they ring your sale through and give you correct change. Usually you have to observe your purchase and purchases of others.

Looking the part

Don't worry about it too much John. Shocking, I drive a Mazda and get way better service at the dealership then my partner who used to drive a BMW. The service was awful there. That is why they need mystery shoppers like us!

Online shops that don’t really exist

I had a regular mystery shop pop up with that message. I emailed the scheduler who told me it was mistake in scheduling and manually assigned it to me.
