Like Ivan said, it depends on the MSP. You can look up when they pay in the Contractor Agreement of the MSP in question.
30 days is a good estimate, most I've found state 30 to 45 days, and one I just shopped for pays every other Friday.
So as you see it can vary greatly. I am trying to do them regularly so that there is always money coming into my Paypal account.

As you complete shops and gain in reputation more shops become available. The badges are a quick way for schedulers to see what experience you have and helps them decide who gets assigned to what shops. The number of shops you can self assign will increase with your reputation and number of successful shops. Also if you fill out your extended profile you will qualify for other shops as well as gain some reputation. And don't forget to do the ISS prep courses, you can gain one rep level if you complete them.

You can also get a copy of the invoice in the payment section that you can file with you completed shop paperwork.
I keep a record of my shops in case I need them for reference.

Well I just went out on my 3rd shop, Lamps Plus purchase / return. I finished the purchase portion and completed the right parts of the report. I have to wait a day or two then return the item purchased and finish the shop. My other two have been approved and payment is pending. Woohoo!!
Lamps Plus is a bit challenging but I got thru it quite well. I'm ready for another assignment, maybe a pizza shop. I like free food. :)

The best change must be the new app. You don't have to try to remember every thing you need to check out to be able to complete your report.
You can do most of it as your doing your shop.

Good advice all. I just had one that I had to make a purchase one day, fill out that part of my report. Return the item within the next few days and finish the report.
So DO READ the guidelines carefully and don't assume that a shop you did once is going to be the same next time.
MFJohnston that's some food for thought. Aren't some of the courses required for to qualify for certain types of shops? Like hidden camera shops?
Could you suggest some of the free courses you've found? Any that you found particularly helpful?
I am all about not spending money on anything that is not required.
Any guidance in this area would be greatly appreciated.
