If you want to see more shops, you can also set the search distance filter (in the upper-left corner of the Available Shops page, above the map, on the iSecretShop website) to 50 or 100 miles, and click the search button (a small magnifying glass symbol in that same row) - that will show you the available shops in the wider area around you.
Be sure and always check the Web and Telephone Shops page too - for shops that can be done from home. I'm assuming more of those will be getting posted in the following weeks.
Here is what I found on their Payment Policy:
"Our shoppers are usually paid within 30 to 45 days of submitting an acceptable report and valid receipt. If 45 days have passed and you have not received payment yet, please submit the form below by filling out all information completely. You will receive a response from our team within two business days. Please do not inquire about a payment unless 45 days have passed to allow time for payment processing."
If you haven't received payment after 45 days, here's their contact info you can try:

Hi James,
If you're having trouble with your password on iSecretShop, I suggest opening a support ticket so you could get assistance with that.
Hi Susan,
On Android phones, you can tap the Overview button and drag the app off the screen to close it. On iPhone, you can double tap home, and swipe up on the app icon to close it (or simply go to settings and look up the app and turn it off).
Hi Jeremy, and welcome! You can find a collection of tips and advice on the following thread: https://www.secretshopforum.com/thread/1/2/94/pro-tips-for-those-who-want-to-be-the-best-shoppers#post528
Additionally, going to the www.iSSprep.com website and completing the iSS 101, 102 and 103 courses (which are completely free and don't take long to do) is a good way to start and learn a lot early on.
I hope this helps!

As for making money - yes, there are people who use mystery shopping as their primary source of income, as well as people who only do a shop or two from time to time - it all depends on the availability of shops in your area, and your willingness to do them. I found a discussion about income from shopping on the following thread, I hope you find it useful: https://www.secretshopforum.com/thread/1/1/630/do-you-make-money#post3621
